Psychological aggression is reported much more frequently than physical violence.
A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis involving around 25,000 participants estimated physical child-to-parent violence at 10%, compared with 82.6% for psychological violence within the studies measuring those forms. The psychological estimate should be used cautiously because studies defined and measured behaviours differently.
