Hear ME project published

Dhriti Suresh-Eapen and AVA are thrilled to publish the findings and recommendations from their Hear ME project today.

This one-year small scope project sought to centre the experiences of mothers experiencing violence and abuse from their adult children, and to start to fill a massive gap in understanding and policy recommendations. Over the course of many months, the research team heard from those on the frontline, both as parents and as practitioners, before formulating a series of proposals which are brought together in this report.

  • The Hear ME Research Report aims to raise awareness and provide better understanding of mothers’ experiences of adult child to parent abuse. The report explores the experiences of abuse, the journey in accessing support and identifies clear recommendations for change to improve responses and outcomes for mothers and families facing this form of abuse.
  • The Hear ME Guidance for Practitioners draws upon the findings and recommendations from the research report, to provide practical steps for practitioners to effectively support families experiencing adult child to parent abuse.

Both the report and guidance recommendations for practitioners are available from today; and there is also an opportunity to sign up for a webinar on September 19th for more information about the project and the findings.
