1997 Step UP Programme was started. Developed in 1997 by Greg Routt and Lily Anderson in King County, Washington State. Purpose: A collaborative intervention (involving juvenile courts, prosecutors, and family services) designed to stop adolescent abuse toward parents and foster safe, respectful family relationships. International Adoption: The U.S. model later inspired similar programs internationally, including in the United Kingdom starting around 2009
