Difficult:
Mothering Challenging Adult Children Through Conflict and Change
Webinar Series for parents starts November 10th.
Dear Friends,

Starting Thursday November 10th, I will be offering a series of webinars on mothering in later life.  For five weeks, you can join me and discuss and learn about some of the key issues that mothers have reported is difficult for them.  Each workshop begins at  7:30 PM EST.

Nov. 10th – Once a mother – Always a mother?  Conflicts and stages of mothering challenging adult children
Nov. 17th – Give me Shelter: Coping with living together again. When your adult child moves back home – stresses and opportunities
Dec. 1st – Guilt, shame, and mother-blame.  Handling feelings about yourself as a good enough mother
Dec. 8th – Torn in Two. What the research teaches us about mothers’ conflicts in later life
Dec. 15th – Getting help: Self-care, Social Support, and Staying Safe. Balancing your needs with your adult child’s problems

The fee for the entire series is $75; or you can purchase individual webinars, at $25 per session.
If this price is not affordable, email judithrsmith@difficultmothering.com for a fee adjustment.

Each week I get letters from mothers thanking me for writing Difficult.  Women tell me how helpful it was to read the stories of mothers like themselves.  The letters mention how hard it is to feel so alone.  Mothers  struggling with caring for a vulnerable or challenging adult child need information and support.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with years of experience as a psychotherapist, professor, and researcher.  My research over the years has focused on the mother/child relationship. After completing a multi-year research project on mothering in later life, I wrote the book  “Difficult: Mothering Challenging Adult Children through Conflict and Change” published by Rowman and Littlefield in February, 2022. The sales for the book continue to be strong.  There is now a kindle and an audible version.

Please share information about these upcoming webinars with families who are struggling with caring for a vulnerable or abusive adult child.

Also running from February 2023 are Support Groups for Parents. See the website for more information.
